Sometimes I feel very unaccomplished. This feeling drifts in when I see people living sweet lives. Not only that but also when I see people walking up a path with surety. I take a look at my path and I see grey fog, I certainly don’t feel cheerful in those moments 😅. Eventually I come out of the funk by reminding myself that, fog or not, we’re all on different paths. But one particular day, my Lord told me something as a video of beautiful mountains and skies covered my phone screen. He said, “All that magnificence, yet you’re my most priced work of art”. It’s true- me and you are the most priced. If you don’t believe me or The Voice in my soul, please believe the Word of God.
What clearer way to know your value than the beginning, in Genesis chapters 1 and 2? The alluring skies and crisp mountain peaks, the fervid waves and the patterned creatures, all were spoken into being by Abba. Yet when it finally came to the creation of our kind, He molded using the soil and breathed into him.
Permit my active imagination here…
He spoke every other thing into existence, not that His word is less powerful, but there’s a sense of intimacy with how mankind was made. I imagine He picked up the soil and molded with His hands, carefully carving details along with the intricate wiring of our internal systems using… THE BLUEPRINT. Yes, I like to think there was a plan or blueprint to guide His hands. I imagine Him like the passionate artists I’ve watched in movies and read in books who have their entire being devoted to bringing their imagination to life; all His focus was on our making. Then, when His eyes were pleased (mmm…your are pleasing to GOD’S EYES), He breathed into us.
Imagine how close you have to be to a person to be breathed on. A breath is more quiet than a whisper. I imagine a husband and his wife lying so close to each other that the tiny hairs on her cheek are comforted by the warmth of her husband’s breaths. They both rest in their oblivion of anything happening outside of that bed. But it’s much deeper than that because with His breath, He gave mankind life. No longer could we be compared to art work or sculpture, we became alive! Imagine the ecstasy the creators of the Senufo figures and Tutu would experience if their work could be made alive; if the wood and dried paint could tell of their creators’ genius- well, they kinda do already. I am precious to Abba and so are you. If ever you lose sight of that, remember Psalms 139:13-14.
Even more reassuring is the fact that when we got soiled by self serving desires, He willingly offered Himself as penance. Trade by barter usually happens with things of equal value but I struggle to see how I’m equal in value to Abba, nonetheless, if He deems me worthy, I hope everyday to subsist on this truth. You are God’s most priced work in all the galaxies and undiscovered; this truth He has proven. From His humility to a position lower than angels, to His submission to the torment of those weaker than Him so that THEY know that they’re loved, to the kindness of the sharing of His victory, glory and power, He has declared to all that can hear and see who is dearest to Him.
The more I ponder on these truths the quicker the fog drifts away. I don’t have the full picture but I have a hope- an assurance. A creator as capable as Mine, will not allow His most priced work to suffer damage. Why then should I allow myself feel unaccomplished? For my Creator will accomplish me with His boastings and continuous display of His most priced.
