To start this blog post, I’ll start with this:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
Many of our ideologies on giving to God are not scripture based yet we hold on strong to them like they are truth.
Not so, Child of God.
For a God that gave His only Son for us to be saved eternally, it sure is hard for us to give as little as material things to God. It sure is funny when our mouths start to bend because we think that what we own is actually ours.
We give to God because He is the first giver! He’s given us everything for life and godliness, and I don’t mean the Spiritual gifts either. From your food to your clothing to your gadgets and all your material things, God made them and gave it all to us for our use.
“Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” Genesis 2:15 NKJV
So in the end, we are all just caretakers of God’s property: the Earth. Take it or leave it.
Now, think about it: how much can you give your parents for all they’ve done for you? The answer is nothing! They gave themselves for us to live the best lives they could give us.
Our dream is to have the privilege of always giving back to them because of all they’ve done for us. Because in the end, we can’t repay them enough. Because in the end, we are the result of their labors.
How much more God!
“Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.” I Chronicles 29:13-14 NKJV
This was King David, giving praise to God for the ability to give to the building of that glorious temple of God that was built in Solomon’s time (read I Chronicles 29 for reference).
Imagine King David and the people of Israel feeling entitled to their possessions and feeling like they were helping God or just dashing God.
It is a privilege to be in a position to give. It’s a blessing! What can you give to the God who made the very air you breathe that by a snap of His fingers, Oxygen can become nonexistent?
Giving to God is the ultimate show of gratitude to God. But here’s the beauty of it all:
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”” Luke 6:38 NKJV
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” II Corinthians 9:7-8 NKJV
Is it possible for you out-give God? Certainly not! God will always be the last giver. It says so in scripture so that’s the fact. I, for one, am a personal benefactor of God’s blessings to me after I wholeheartedly gave to God. The scripture is true and does not lie.
This is going to be a series, so that we can deal with the issue that all them Daddy Freeze caused that has made us resentful towards giving.
Remember: the Bible, not man, is our source of truth.
Until next time xx
