Prophecy: It’s a lot deeper than you think.

*Clearing up the cobwebs*

Hi everyone! Long time no read. I know it’s been a while but I’m very happy that you’re back here! Loyal readers are such a vibe lol.

Anyways, now that we’ve done the needful, Sunday’s service was such an insightful day because I personally got a lot of clarity on the topic: Prophecy.

Let’s look at scripture for a moment.

“But Jesus replied, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’ ” Matthew 4:4 AMP.

Prophecies aren’t anything spooky or mystical. They are simply God’s instructions for you for a particular matter.

If you’ve ever been given a word of knowledge or wisdom before (see 1 Corinthians 12:4-8), you know how crazily accurate they are and how they address a particular thing in your life that sometimes you’re even moved to tears because, in that moment, you feel so seen and loved by God.

Feelings aside, prophecies are serious business. They are privileged information—an insight into how your future is supposed to look like!

How awesome is that?! If everyone knew exactly how their lives were supposed to go, I think we’d have a lot less confused people in our world today.

Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. It’s not all about the money making, furthering your education or having the supposed idle lifestyle that’s portrayed all over the place. Man’s source is God. Man’s true life is only found in God—His Word.

What will your attitude and response be when God’s prophecy for you doesn’t align with the plans you had for yourself? What happens when it’s no longer about how you feel after hearing a prophecy but about what God has instructed you to do?

When things aren’t going exactly as you’ve planned them to, it’s not God that’s punishing you. It’s just you facing the consequences of not following God’s prophecies for your life. You’d be living in abject disobedience when you’re living a life outside of God’s instructions.

That’s not so different from what Adam did in the garden. The life he lived after his disobedience was as a result of his refusal to pattern his life after God’s words. But we see Jesus who chose to follow all that God spoke about Him in the scriptures to the latter. Who got to experience fullness of life between the two?

It’s easy to blame Adam for disobeying God and causing the downfall of humanity. But there are so many of us today who are doing the exact same thing that Adam did; discarding God’s way for our own.

Are you walking according to God’s words or are you giving Him excuses as to why you shouldn’t do it? Convenient Christianity is filled with excuses that will say, “There is a time and place for certain things to happen.” Actual Biblical Christianity that is led by the Spirit, will tell you to rely on God’s instructions and timing.

How would you know these things? By prophecy! Glory to God!

Prophecies are how you will know what the perfect will of God for your life is. Now that you are in Christ, you are to plan your life accordingly.

I close with this:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”Proverbs 3:5-8 NKJV.

You are the one on the receiving end of enjoying the benefits that come with walking hand-in-hand with God in the words He’s spoken over you. Don’t take them for granted.

So, next time when you’re getting a prophecy for your life, note them down and walk with God to ensure that it’s your reality, no matter what.

Until next time, darlings.
